MAKING THE WEEKEND WORK:
Fun Weekend Activities for Parents
As a custody attorney, I represent a diverse clientele ranging from fathers to mothers to grandparents, all from different walks of life. This means that no situation I see is the same, but I do tend to see patterns when it comes to how parents “share” custody of their children. Due to a variety of factors, there are two very common custody schedules that are awarded by the court or agreed upon by the parents, those schedules being: a true shared custody schedule with the parents having equal time, and a schedule in which one parent is labeled the “primary” custodial parent and the other is labeled the “partial” custodial parent. The court assigns these labels based on how many overnights each parent has with the children.
For some parents, partial custody means they only having their children overnight every other weekend. In that situation, there is a lot of pressure to make that time with children meaningful. Some parents may feel pressured to do “big” activities that may break the bank. However, making the time with your children meaningful is not about spending money to do expensive activities; it is about being there for your kids and being involved in their lives. Of course, having fun doesn’t hurt either!
Here are four (4) upcoming weekend activities for the month of August that won’t break the bank, and will lead to some lasting memories.
